We asked if we could use a database of historical records to determine if different insects evolve at different speeds - we found that there were differences, but that there are many explanations for those differences.

Brevik, K., Lindström, L., McKay, S. D. & Chen, Y. H. Transgenerational effects of insecticides — implications for rapid pest evolution in agroecosystems. Curr. Opin. Insect Sci. 26, 34–40 (2018).

We describe the ways in which pesticides could lead to rapid evolution in pest species via epigenetics.

A large group of researchers worked on this project - sequencing, assembling, and describing the reference genome of the Colorado Potato Beetle, which enables many types of genomic study. I worked on finding and describing the transposable elements in the genome.
